Caracal has been undoubtably one of my favourite local bands since the happening scene days of “the third place”. Through the years, there’s been many line up changes within the band but my love for their music just keeps growing as the years pass.

There are plenty of things that i admire about them and right on top of the long list of things is the musical integrity they have. Its always refreshing to see a band perpetually desiring to reinvent themselves and trying to “find” their sound. I mean, discovering one’s sound is a never-ending rocky road to walk on (pardon the cliche expression) and it just moves me to bits to see a band like Caracal never wanting to settle for a mediocre job done.

Yes, its unfortunate that the band is currently going through another line up change. But they’re resilience to keep on going as a band is such a quality to desire, especially amongst Singapore bands. I mean keeping a band together isn’t exactly a walk in the park (once again pardon the cliche expression).

Well i think all of this happens for a reason and it only proves how genuine Caracal’s motives are, as a band. I mean, its not the occurred circumstance that defines the band but how the band responds to the circumstance that defines them. And in my opinion, you can evidently tell these guys are all for the music. Its situations like these that really prove their seriousness as a band and how their hearts are all in it for the right reasons. Respect man.

With that said, i am pretty bummed that Henry’s leaving the band but i have nothing but absolute respect & admiration on his decision. (salutes)

The guys are such a fun bunch to be around. I count myself a very privileged person to be able to head out to Beijing, China to gig together last year and on top of that, play along side Martin & Henry on stage (fun times). But above it all, i find myself very very blessed to be able to call these guys my friends.

They’re one of the most hardworking bands i know in Singapore and i’m throughly ecstatic that they’re going up to Toronto, Canada to open a can of Singapore whoop-ass there. You guys are one of the most deserving bands to head up and i really think you’d do us all proud. Can’t wait to hear all the awesome stories when you guys return.

On another note, playing today at TORONTO & BEYOND with all the awesome rock legends in Singapore has been one of the best nights i’ve had in the longest time. It’s nights like these that affirm me about the uber cool music community that we have. With a community like this, i really do feel we have a good chance of making Singapore Music History. <3
